The Salt Spring Abattoir has an opening for an experienced slaughter person and butcher for the current season (May to December). We are a growing abattoir where there is an opportunity to progress and grow. We are looking for talented, reliable, hard-working individuals and most importantly a team player.
JOB-DESCRIPTION
- Livestock Processing (slaughter)
- Break down carcasses
- Cut, de-bone, and trim cuts of meat according to order specifications
- Ensuring the work area is clean prior to starting work.
- Maintain equipment and work area to food safety standards
- Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS
- Canadian Citizen or current work permit
- Positive and friendly attitude, respectful and self-motivated
- Knowledge and experience with lamb, beef, pork and/or poultry
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Commitment to safety and quality processes
- Attention to detail
Experience:
- Meat Cutting: 1 year (preferred)
