Salt Spring Abattoir is Hiring

The Salt Spring Abattoir has an opening for an experienced slaughter person and butcher for the current season (May to December). We are a growing abattoir where there is an opportunity to progress and grow. We are looking for talented, reliable, hard-working individuals and most importantly a team player.

JOB-DESCRIPTION

  • Livestock Processing (slaughter)
  • Break down carcasses
  • Cut, de-bone, and trim cuts of meat according to order specifications
  • Ensuring the work area is clean prior to starting work.
  • Maintain equipment and work area to food safety standards
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS

  • Canadian Citizen or current work permit
  • Positive and friendly attitude, respectful and self-motivated
  • Knowledge and experience with lamb, beef, pork and/or poultry
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Commitment to safety and quality processes
  • Attention to detail

Experience:

  • Meat Cutting: 1 year (preferred)

  • No

  • Cleaning procedures in place
